John Slaughter was introduced to Leica
ten years ago upon renting a M6 from Service Photo in Baltimore.
Under the light box, three days later, one glance at a Leica-exposed
Velvia slide shuttered John's preference for Japanese glass.
As a Leica workshop leader, John brings a thorough working knowledge of
the R- and M-systems as well as both Digilux cameras. He's used
them on commercial assignments for the US Army, McDonalds, numerous
magazine stories, and personal photojournalistic and travel essays
throughout Europe and East Africa. John will be using Leica
extensively this winter documenting the nomadic culture and the famine
relief efforts in the West African country of Niger.
Attendee's will learn how to shoot hyperfocal with the M-series
rangefinder, capturing the decisive moment unobtrusively,
introducing urgency to your street images.

Travel photographers will learn the art of seeing,
capturing familiar city structures, events, and landmarks that give cities their
unique personality.
All attendees will be afforded the opportunity to
use all three systems, rotating Leicas with the other seminar attendees
throughout the day. A workbook, written by John Slaughter will be handed
out, detailing the operating features of each camera and the techniques
introduced in the day-long workshop.
