French Fries and Mayo? Yuck!!! I first heard of such delights, as did many Americans, from the movie "Pulp Fiction" as John Travolta's character was sharing his experiences living in Amsterdam with Samuel L. Jackson's character. I vowed, if I ever got a chance to travel to Amsterdam, I'd see what the fuss was about. First of all, this is not your mother's salad dressing. Vlaamese Frites are thick, deep fried potatoes smothered with a flavored mayonnaise. Tourists que for over half-an-hour to sample this (fast?) food treat. My verdict? Not bad. However, I can do without the mayonnaise covered wrists and forearms acquired as I reached for the last one in the bottom of my paper cone. |
