Young Tanzanian Worker
Employment is where you can find it
in Tanzania, the East African country most known for tourism and spectacular wildlife.
Here a young boy takes a break from stacking newly-formed and dried clay bricks,
which will be hauled into town and sold for construction.
Curious and
eager to communicate, he stopped along with a dozen children his age to watch the Land
Rover and its occupants pull over and pile out with cameras. Since we did not speak
Swahili, and they did not understand English, our driver/guide negotiated a price, 20,000
shillings ($12 US), from the landowner to allow us to document the men and children
working long hours for an equivalent of $1 US or less.
